is one of the villages in Urue
Offong/Oruko Local Government Area in Oro Nation. It is a homogenous
community of Oro Nation who have common ancestor named ABANG. They migrated from Egypt across Bantu/Cameron of Central
Africa to their present abode.Some of the local governments today in Oro land
arrived in Urue Offong/Oruko before
migrating to their present abode.1
The people of Udung Uwe in Urue Offong/Oruko Local government Area like other members of Oro nation are noted for their rich cultural heritage such as carving of Ekpu Oro, these people also involved in the development of Local industry such as in the construction of local grater(Okukwok) use in grading of cassava for making of local food such as(Iwe Ekpang). Iwe Ekapang and Otong is a special food which is always use during festive period or special ceremony as the main food which was given to them by 'ABANG' the father of the land as a symbol of peace to unite the people. They also involve in plays such as Afiak Eyit, Orok and Nkugho. Besides, their elders kept to the norms and customs of their ancient deities which were used as native government for the land before the advents of missionaries and this is in existence today, based on this each village had their own deities whose influence went beyond the villages in the particular clan. Thus, Ibighi had their Eke- Eme Oro,Abanga Nlak of Umume,Atiabong of Okuko,Awai of Uboro-oro,Mkpok Okwong of Okossi,Utang Onnung of odu Onim in Oruko.2
