A suspected thief who was caught yesterday escaped death by a stroke of luck after he was rescued by policemen.
It was gathered that the man was apprehended while stealing at the popular Shoprite Mall in Apapa area of the state.
Report has it that the suspect was about to be lynched before policemen appeared at the scene.
However, the police presence did not prevent the crowd from beating and hitting the suspect whose clothe was already in the process of being removed for jungle justice.
The suspect was whisked away by the policemen.
